Global Trade Finance
is not only about providing financial solutions, but also about managing
risks of a political, credit, or performance nature. Swiss Investment
& Finance S.A. (SIF) ensures the purchase and sales of goods and services
to take place on terms that best suit the interest and terms of both buyers
and sellers.
SIF works in key areas to help reduce the political and commercial
risks associated with doing business. SIF’s experienced trade professionals
develop and propose options geared at assisting importers and exporters
in reducing the payment risks associated with international trade.
Letters of Credit
A letter of credit is a conditional undertaking given by a bank on behalf
of an applicant to an exporter. The letter states the terms, conditions,
and details of the payment to the exporter in exchange for the export of
goods. SIF provides their clients with confirmed letters of credit,
which enables an exporter to request a second payment undertaking from a
local bank should he/she be unsatisfied with the importer’s bank. This is
referred to as a “confirmation.” |
